Keeping Me Mind Busy

The mind is a boundless sky, vast and infinite, capable of harboring storms of thought or shining with the brilliance of ideas. Left idle, it becomes a neglected garden, where the weeds of worry, doubt, and boredom grow unchecked, choking curiosity and imagination. To keep the mind busy is to become its gardener, planting seeds of knowledge, curiosity, and creativity, and tending them with care, patience, and attention.

When we read, write, explore, or solve, we water these seeds; when we reflect or create, we allow sunlight to touch them, letting ideas sprout and blossom. A busy mind is like a river, rushing with energy and purpose, carving paths through the landscapes of thought, shaping perspectives, and carrying dreams to new horizons. In this flow, learning, problem-solving, and imagination are all tributaries, feeding into the endless sea of potential.

Yet busyness is a double-edged sword. A mind that races without pause can become a tempest, swirling in circles of anxiety, distraction, and fatigue. Thoughts may crash like waves against a cliff, leaving no room for reflection or peace. Here, stillness is not weakness—it is a mirror pond, calm and clear, allowing the mind to see itself, to rest, and to gather strength for the next current of activity.

Balance is the art of mindful engagement: to fill the mind with purpose, yet allow it quiet spaces to breathe. Even the most vibrant gardens need shade and soil, even the mightiest rivers need pools to reflect the sun. A mind kept thoughtfully busy is not merely active; it is alive, alert, and attuned to the rhythm of life, capable of creating, learning, loving, and dreaming.

In the end, to keep the mind busy is to honor its vastness, to cultivate its gifts, and to navigate its storms with wisdom. It is to dance with ideas, wrestle with challenges, and pause in silent reflection, knowing that both motion and stillness are threads in the tapestry of a rich, fulfilled mind.

Procrastination

I’ll start tomorrow, I softly say,
As minutes and hours quietly slip away.
A ticking clock with a taunting sound,
While unfinished dreams still wait around.

My lists grow longer, my will feels thin,
I bargain with time I never win.
Yet in each pause, a whisper near—
Begin right now, the start is here.

So one small step, not fast, not grand,
Just courage placed in an open hand.
For tasks delayed and chances won,
All bow at last to the one who’s begun.

Procrastination is not laziness but a behavioral response to negative emotions like anxiety, fear, and stress associated with a task. It's a way of avoiding discomfort, where the brain prioritizes immediate mood regulation over long-term goals, often leading to internal conflict rather than a simple lack of motivation. Laziness, in contrast, is characterized by indifference and a preference for minimal effort, without the internal struggle of wanting to do the task but being unable to start.

Returning to Writing After a Long Pause

It’s been a long time since I last sat down to write — five years, to be exact.
Life happened. Beautiful, chaotic, exhausting, heart-filling life.

Somewhere between marriage, kids, career and the never-ending rhythm of daily responsibilities, my creative writing took a quiet step back. Not because I stopped loving it, but because life grew louder in other ways.

But today… something in me whispered, It’s time.
So here I am, easing myself back into blogging after years of silence. There’s a bit of nervousness, a bit of excitement, and a whole lot of “finally!”

I’ve had so many ups and downs, so many lessons, and so many memories that never made it to this space. Maybe it’s time to walk down memory lane and capture a few of those moments before they fade. And honestly, I think restarting this blog can help me vent out some stress and simply feel good again. Writing has always been my safe outlet, and I’m ready to reconnect with that part of myself. So here’s to new beginnings, rediscovering old passions, and sharing more often.

If you're reading this… thank you for being here as I start this journey again.

Motivate Myself

Hey Hey Hey I'm back...
Yes Yes Yes, I am serious about jump starting back my blog. Of course I can't be doing it daily, I will try my best at least once a week or better more =).

Hmmm... Motivate myself...
That is my aim this year!!!

I have had many ideas and thought on how to improve but I have never been so strict on following them. In other words I had many help in the distraction sections....He he he
So this time I am going to write it down in my blog and keep track as many times as I can...

I will start by stating my initial goals:

GOAL 1: Exercise everyday even though it comprises of a few stretches and no; house work does not qualify; well except washing then bathroom, mopping the house, gardening, and etc. =P

GOAL 2: Pray everyday; will target for morning Japji Sahib at least... It really gives a lot of peace

GOAL 3: Drink lots of water; I tend to forget this to the MAX...

Stage 1 Weight Loss: 13 kgs...

I have many more goals but I will start of with these 3...
Let's see how I do ...

Day 1 (18 Aug 2014) - Exercise check; Pray check; Water check

Day 1 looking good, hope I can keep this up daily. The reason I want to do these is one main reason, getting healthy, I am not on any medication but have been monitoring my bp and diabetic...which have been high recently. The only thing I am pending to do is get batteries for my weighing machine.

Dang dang dang,.....my WEIGHT has been over over over PHEW!!!...
I feel much better then a few months ago but not sure how much I lost since my pregnancy and miscarriage.

If I loose this 13 kgs... I would be lighter than I was ever in more than 5 years.

So everyone pray for me...he he he

I am going to start back by blogging, that's for sure!!! Blogging actually is a manner of stress relief, which need most. The only problem is I need to manage my time properly....between being a wife, a mother, a housewife, a daughter, a sibling and a software developer.

So I am going to use this blogging to continue my crazeee posting and keep track of my targets.

Deciphering Dreams...

DrEaMs...

Images, Ideas, Emotions, Sensations...

Dreams occur involuntarily in the mind and the content and purpose of dreams are not definitively understood. The scientific study of dreams is called oneirology. Before we go into trying to understand our dream let's understand our sleep.

Our sleep cycle consists of 4 stages that lasts about 90-120 minutes and repeats themselves throughout the night. This does not include the part when we are falling asleep or may I say getting into sleep.

Stage 1: Light Sleep - body preparing itself to get to deep sleep
NREM - Non-Rapid eye movement, muscle relaxation, lowered body temperature and slowed heart rate

Stage 2: Completely Asleep
NREM, further drop in temperature & muscle relaxation, immune system starts repairing the day's damages and endocrine glands secrete growth hormones.

Stage 3: Deep Sleep
NREM, and metabolic levels get extremely slow.

Stage 4: REM Sleep - restoration, revitalized and emotions being fine tuned
REM - Rapid eye movement, blood pressure rises, heart rate speeds up, respiration become erratic, brain activity increases, involuntary muscles become paralyzed.

Dream happens mostly in the REM Stage, if you are awakened during this stage, you are likely to remember your dream. A person can have several different dreams per night as this cycle repeats as many as 7 times. Some people believe that they simply do not dream, when in reality they just don't remember.

Dreams are seen as a connection to the unconscious. They range from normal and ordinary to overly surreal and bizarre. Dreams can have varying natures, such as frightening, exciting, magical, melancholic, adventurous, or sexual. The events in dreams are generally outside the control of the dreamer, with the exception of lucid dreaming, where the dreamer is self-aware. Dreams can at times make a creative thought occur to the person or give a sense of inspiration.

So what do our dreams actually mean???
Since 5000BC, people have tried to decipher them...
Dreams are direct messages from god or the dead and that they predicted the future!
Dream are manifestations of our deepest desires and anxieties!

Let's see what the experts has to say...

Alfred Adler (1870 -1937) believes that dreams are an important tool to mastering control over your waking lives. They are problem-solving devices.  Dreams need to be brought to the conscious and interpreted so that better understanding can be shed on your problems. It is important to learn from your dreams and incorporate them into your waking life. Adler believes that there is a correlation between your dreams and the problems in your daily life. The more dreams you have, the more problems you are likely to have. Conversely, the less dreams you have, the less problems you have and the more psychologically healthy you are.

Adler's views on dreams are that they are an open pathway toward your true thoughts, emotions and actions. In your dreams, you clearly see your aggressive impulses and desires. Dreams are also a way of overcompensating for the shortcomings in your waking life. For example, if you are unable to stand up to your boss in your waking life, then you may find it easier to lash out at the boss within the comfort and safety of your dream. Dreams offer some sort of satisfaction that is more socially acceptable.

Considered the father of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) revolutionizes the study of dreams with his work The Interpretation Of Dreams. Freud begins to analyze dreams in order to understand aspects of personality as they relate to pathology.  He believes that nothing you do occurs by chance; every action and thought is motivated by your unconscious at some level. In order to live in a civilized society, you have a tendency to hold back our urges and repress our impulses.

One way these urges and impulses are released is through your dreams. Because the content of the unconscious may be extremely disturbing or harmful, Freud believes that the unconscious expresses itself in a symbolic language. Freud categorizes aspects of the mind into three parts:
Id - centered around primal impulses, pleasures, desires, unchecked urges and wish fulfillment.
Ego - concerned with the conscious, the rational, the moral and the self-aware aspect of the mind.
Superego - the censor for the id, which is also responsible for enforcing the moral codes of the ego. When you are awake,  the impulses and desires of the id are suppressed by the superego. Through dreams, you are able to get a glimpse into your unconscious or the id. Because your guards are down during the dream state, your unconscious has the opportunity to act out and express the hidden desires of the id. However, the desires of the id can, at times, be so disturbing and even psychologically harmful that a "censor" comes into play and translates the id's disturbing content into a more acceptable symbolic form. This helps to preserve sleep and prevent you from waking up shocked at the images. As a result, confusing and cryptic dream images occur.
According to Freud, the reason you struggle to remember your dreams, is because the superego is at work. It is doing its job by protecting the conscious mind from the disturbing images and desires conjured by the unconscious.

Calvin S. Hall, Jr. (1909-1985) focuses his study of dreams on the content, aptly referred to as content analysis. Because dreams are in essence thoughts, it is a cognitive process. Dreams provide a map or route to the inaccessible regions in your mind, otherwise known as the unconscious. Hall believes dreams are the best way to discovering personal thoughts and to explain your behavior. Dreams reveal things about yourself, not hide them. Hall categorizes dreams into one of five principle areas of life.
1. Concepts of Self refer to the types or number of roles you play in your dreams.
2. Concepts of other people are the roles other people play in your dreams. Consider your feelings toward them and how you interact with them.
3. Concepts of the world represent the dream surrounding and landscape. The adjectives you use to describe your dreamscape is how you view the world.
4. Concepts of impulses, prohibitions and penalties indicate your behavior and how it is ruled by impulses and punishment.
5. Concepts of problems and conflicts symbolize your struggles, issues and problems you are facing in your waking life. These dream try to offer insight and resolution to your conflicts.
By utilizing these five concepts, Hall believes that you will be able to analyze the dream content and trace your way toward the inner workings of your unconscious.

Like his mentor Sigmund Freud, Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1960) also believes in the existence of the unconscious. However, he does not see the unconscious as animalistic, instinctual, or sexual; he sees it as more spiritual. Eventually, Jung split with Freud due to their differing views on dreams.
According to Jung, dreams are a way of communicating and acquainting yourself with the unconscious. Dreams are not attempts to conceal your true feelings from the waking mind, but rather they are a window to your unconscious. They serve to guide the waking self to achieve wholeness and offer a solution to a problem you are facing in your waking life.
Jung views the ego as your sense of self and how you portray yourself to the world.  Part of Jung's theory is that all  things can be viewed as paired opposites: good/evil, male/female, or love/hate. So working in opposition to the ego, is the "counterego" or what he refers to as the shadow.  The shadow represents the rejected aspects of yourself that you do not wish to acknowledge. The shadow is more primitive, somewhat uncultured,  and a little awkward.
 Frederick Perls (1893-1970) iss  the founder of Gestalt therapy.  Gestalt therapy seeks to fill your emotional voids so that you can then become a unified whole. Perls believes that dreams contain the rejected, disowned parts of the Self. Every character and every object in a dream represents an aspect of the Self. You are the hurricane, you are the attacker, you are the broken down car, you are the bridge, and you are the dusty book. Perls rejects the notion that dreams are part of a universal symbolic language. He believes that each dream is unique to the individual who dreams it.
In order to discover what aspect of yourself is being disowned, Perls believes that it is important to retell your dream in the present tense and act it out accordingly. It is important to verbalize how each and every component in your dream felt, even inanimate objects. Reenact the dream and take on the role of the different characters and objects. Start a dialogue with the dream object and express how you felt toward each other.  By taking on a different  role within your dream and reenact it, you may then be able to acknowledge and realize feelings that you may have overlooked or buried. Your dream literally comes alive.

Now the best part...

Here are some common recurring dream motifs and their interpretation:

Pursuit or attack.

The hunter represents a part of ourselves we are afraid of. An extreme version of unacceptable part of our personality, which will benefit us if we expressed it appropriately.

Free fall.

Feel heavy, lack of support, worry about something? How to feel free, lightweight? Maybe we should ‘land’ in reality?

Car out of control.

Is life too fast? Are we losing control of things? How can we get things more slowly and just calmly enjoy the trip?

Unprepared, late, failure to test.

Feel unprepared for an approaching event? Do we worry without reason or really want more preparation to feel more confident and do a good job?

Feeling unable to speak or move.

We feel that we are trapped in our lives with no way out. It goes nowhere and we can’t act according to our true feelings.

Shame of being naked in public, although nobody seems to notice it.

In which part of our life do we feel lack of confidence and skills? The fact that others do not notice our shame means that only we see ourselves like this and usually are wrong about it.

Trapped, locked in.

When do we feel trapped/stuck in life? How to create a new perspective and explore new ways to act?

Unable to see people’s faces but knowing who they are.

This pattern may have several interpretations. It may refer to ourselves, symbolizing the search of our identity, the process of exploring our own personality.
Also it may reflect our relations with other people: feeling alone in the crowd, unable to reach understanding with other people, feeling different from them. According to Sigmund Freud, faces in dreams represent the individuality of people. Seeing the world without faces in our dreams, we deprive the others of their individuality due to our fears, lack of confidence, problems we face dealing with people in our life. It works as a defence mechanism which helps us avoid being hurt by others.

Being lost, unable to reach a destination or fulfill a task.

Dreams of being lost and unable to find the way somewhere speak of frustration. Sometimes we want something or someone to go/act in a certain way, but they don’t. It certainly brings us disappointment and frustration.
Moreover, such kind of dreams may have to do with the feeling of ‘losing’ ourselves. Perhaps, it may be connected with a significant change in our life (for example, a loss of something or someone important for us) or we just feel ‘following a wrong path’. Sometimes our subconscious tries to tell us that what we do is not what we really want from life.

Wait No More

Years had I waited,
Longing for love to come my way...
Weeks did I take,
To realize that he is finally here...
Days could not wait then,
To let us bond together...

~salprith~

My mom used to say when the right guy comes along, everything will just happen in a sudden and you will be hitched before you know it. I wondered if that would happen. I never could have imagined how it would just fall into place like it just did in my life... My Love is Finally Here!!!

Though it's just been a month...I could grow old with you my dear...

Movie: Immortals

Immortals is a 2011 3D fantasy action film directed by Tarsem Singh (who also in the past directed Cell starring J.Lo and assisted in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button starring Brad Pitt) and starring...

the handsome Henry Cavill

Freida Pinto (who acted in Slumdog Millionaire)

and Mickey Rourke (the villain in the movie).

Eons after the Gods won their mythic struggle against the Titans, a new evil threatens the land. Mad with power, King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) has declared war against humanity. Amassing a bloodthirsty army of soldiers disfigured by his own hand, Hyperion has scorched Greece in search of the legendary Epirus Bow, a weapon of unimaginable power forged in the heavens by Ares. Only he who possesses this bow can unleash the Titans, who have been imprisoned deep within the walls of Mount Tartaros since the dawn of time and thirst for revenge. In the king's hands, the bow would rain destruction upon mankind and annihilate the Gods. But ancient law dictates the Gods must not intervene in man's conflict. They remain powerless to stop Hyperion...until a peasant named Theseus (Henry Cavill) comes forth as their only hope. Secretly chosen by Zeus, Theseus must save his people from Hyperion and his hordes...

I personally find the story interesting except the ending which ultimately gods had to come into the fight and fought extremely stupidly, what else I expected more from gods... =D

Looking for love...

Time, time and time passed by
I waited anxiously to meet my mate
The one who was made to be for me
The one who I will cherish forever.

High and low
Near and far
Searching and hoping
To end the wait.

Eyes so tired and damp
As many just passed by
God was kind as he not let me hurt
As he knew they were not right.

Keeping in the heart
Love and faith in god
On day the day will come
When I and he shall meet.

Welcome 2011

It's a new year and there calls for major changes. It was about time for a change in my life. My year started of jobless - pretty interesting. I had to focus on my brother's wedding while looking for another job. Well the looking for a job wasn't so difficult, and the brother's wedding was the agenda that ripped of the whole month of my life.

Seriously, one whole month, where did it go, I wasn't going to work, I was mostly at home. I can't believe it myself, one whole month has vanished and passed by. Though I must say I enjoyed the wedding fully.

I'll make sure to post the links for all the pictures and video for my brother's wedding here. From the maiyan, sangeet, wedding, prayer and until the dinner, everything was fabulous. And since my brother is a professional photographer, he had so many friends taking pictures as they are all professional photographers.

That's something I could blog about some day too.... Advertising my brothers phography skills... =)

Ok January passed and Chinese New Year was my break or in other words, time to recover from wedding... he he he... Then 8th of February 2011 came.... back to work...new job, new friends, new environment... YIPPIE!!!

Shutter Island...It's all about madness!

First of all, Thank you Ben for passing this movie to me to watch.
Even though it was one twisted movie, I did enjoy it.

I just found out that it was initially a novel by Dennis Lehane in 2003.
I love the suspense but my sister concluded before the end that those who were watching were the mad ones! Actors from Gandhi and Titanic did justice to the movie.

WARNING: Those who loves a suspense movie please don't read what is written below ....GO WATCH THE MOVIE!!! When you have watched it then come back and comment on what you think about it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Teddy and his partner goes to this island to solve a missing persons case.
Is the person really missing? Does the person actually exist?
How could the person get out of a closed room? Where could she have gone without her shoes?
Where is the personal doc for the missing person?
What's with all the dreams Teddy seeing? Why is he getting headaches? What's his past like? Is the doctors giving his wrong medicines? Are they trying to poison his mind and make him made?
Is the person he is looking for on that island? Did that person really burn the apartment which killed his wife and three other persons? Who were these three other person?
Who is this unseen guy with a scar? Is this all a trap for him?
Is the doctors all lying? Are they hiding something? Are they doing brain surgery? Where do they do this? Did they do something to the missing person before returning her to her room?
Is his partner trying to make his mad with the doctors? Does his partner really exist?
Is his partner in trouble? Did they brainwash his partner?
Favorite quotes:
We don't know how she got out of her room.
It's as if she evaporated, straight through the walls.
Teddy tells his wife in his illusion:
Baby, I love this because you gave it to me, but it is one fucking ugly tie.
Doc tells Teddy:
You blew up my car. I loved that car.
The best is the last conversation between Teddy and Chuck:
Chuck: How we doing this morning?
Teddy: Good, and you?
Chuck: Can't complain.
Teddy: So what's our next move?
Chuck: You tell me.
Teddy: I gotta get off this rock, Chuck. Get back to the mainland. Whatever the hell's going on here, it's bad. Don't worry partner, they're not gonna catch us.
Chuck: That's right, we're too smart for em.
Teddy: Yeah, we are, aren't we. You know, this place makes me wonder.
Chuck: Yeah, what's that, boss?
Teddy: Which would be worse, to live as a monster or to die as a good man?
Chuck: Teddy.
My conclusion is the he was a patient in the hospital for killing his wife who killed their three kids, but in this dialogue he was cured, he was no more insane thinking that he is a detective looking for the person who killed his wife and is aware of what he did that is killed his wife and burned down the house with his three dead kids in it. He just could not bear living a free life as a monster. Instead he would prefer to die as an insane person....BRILLIANT!
Rain Rain Go Away...
Everyday it's raining...(SNIFF SNIFF SNEEZE)
I just recovered from flu last week and yesterday started again. =(
Here are some data I found about our climate changes over the years. Also some predictions for the coming years.
There is also a rumor that there is going to be a winter storm this Friday in KL at 7pm....Whatever..I wanna go home early!!!
