Donating Blood!!!

My office had a Blood donation campaign yesterday. When I heard about this campaign a week ago I had a flash back....~~~~~~.....Years ago..... when I went to donate blood the first time....I was terrified....!!! YIKES! I am so afraid of PAIN....well actually, I am STILL afraid of PAIN. So basically needles goes into that category....OUCH!!! The nurse sent me home before the 1/2 margin line of the packet...I was to afraid or can I say my blood was afraid to come out too....HE HE! Well that was years ago.....

Recently, I have been in and out of hospitals for blood checks since my hemoglobin count was low. I felt as I always but blood count shows a different story. Doctor says with low hemoglobin less oxygen gets carried in and that's why you're breathing heavily when you play sports. Basically heart pump faster...more blood to heart...more oxygen to body. Well it makes sense to me. Every time the stick that needle into my arm, I let out a SHRIEK!!

OK, back to YESTERDAY. It has been a while since a checked my hemoglobin level or took medication to increase it. So what the heck....I decided to go for the blood drive and check my blood...I was definitely sure I will be rejected it the first check before they draw my blood. As usual when they pricked my finger to check my blood, I let out a small SCREAM!!! =) But to my surprise they said my blood was fine.

Well was this a good news???, my blood back to normal, or is it a bad news???....OH SHIT...now they gonna poke a bigger needle into my arm to draw blood....AAARRRGGG....I was trembling and so scared...I tried to calm myself by praying and I guess it worked. Of course I still let out my usual shriek and then blood was simply flowing out of me...OK, that didn't sound right...=P

I was still tensed but at the same time fascinated!!!! In a few minutes, the bag was full...YAHOO..... then the needle came out...OUCH!!! Then the nurse asked me to press on my arm....THAT WAS PAINFUL!!! When she came back after a while she brought a handy-plus, she carried the cotton and SUDDENLY...OUCH...She pushed back the cotton back on with force...When she carried the cotton I could see some blood splashing out...she told me I wasn't pressing hard, ok press more and more and more. She came back, again the same thing...OUCH!!!!.....Than after a few more minutes of pressing patiently, no blood was shooting out, and there goes the handy-plus. YAY, trauma finally over. But I would'nt say I won't donate again.

One packet O+ blood served. =)

Then, when I went back to my place, I went on persuading others to go. Some already came prepared with their donation book. WAH WAH!!!. Then Shiva got the courage to go donate blood for the first time. He didn't even know what was his blood group. I managed to sneak back in take his picture.

This picture shows him all fine, he was thinking in his mind wow, he is actually donating his blood, and maybe this blood could safe someone's life. After I left, he went through a real trauma. I mean nothing like my PAIN trauma...

After putting on the handy-plus, as he was walking, blood started pouring out. He was stunned and all the nurses rushed to rescue him. OMG!!! Unluckily, he had blood stains on his SHIRT!!! One of his new favorite shirts which was WHITE. Pity him. After the blood finally stop, the first thing he did was wash the shirt.

I would suggest to everyone, DO DONATE BLOOD, don't be afraid, when a person like me can do it so can you. Even Shiva says he will donate again next. And guess what there are benefits too....

As it is written in the blood donation card, you will get free medical treatments for free for a certain number of times depends on how many times you have donated. I just did once and I get a free 4 month duration. If you donated 50 times, you can get any medical treatments for life, the first 10 years in 1st class the the rest in 2nd class. HOW COOL IS THAT????
